Why are you passionate about RevJen’s work?

I have been executive director and board chair of a diverse portfolio of non-profits, so I relish having the opportunity to share a model that I wish I had when I was in the driver’s seat. As a RevJen trainer, I am honored to deliver RevJen’s range of products that make life easier for leaders and the work more impactful for the mission-driven organizations that join our cohorts.

If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing about the nonprofit sector, what would it be? 

I would banish the idea that talented NGO leaders “could be doing anything else,” but have selflessly chosen to serve in the nonprofit sector. Having the chance to be a professional and work in alignment with your values is an amazing opportunity, not a runner up prize.

Finish this sentence: “On Saturday mornings you can usually find me…”

I had to ask my eleven-year-old for his answer, which was, “drinking coffee and making challah French toast for him and his older brother.” Sometimes, I get to settle in with the Saturday edition of the New York Times over my second cup of coffee.

Jenn's Bio

In Somali, the word xukuma [hoo.koo.ma] means “life the way you want it to be.” After 25 years of working with leading institutions, inspiring leaders, and exciting start-ups, Jenn founded Xukuma, LLC, to work with for-impact organizations to help them capture their own “xukuma.” Before launching Xukuma, LLC, she was the COO at the Birthright Israel Foundation. Before being a COO, Jenn was the co-executive partner of SeaChange Capital Partners. She has held director of member services and director of development positions in the professional Jewish community. Jenn launched her non-profit career at Outward Bound USA, never having been camping before. A former journalist, Jenn was a producer at ABC News from 1995 to 2003. She received her BA from Columbia University. She serves on the board of directors of The Support Center, as Chairperson, and is the founding Board Chair of At the Well.

In addition to being a RevJen Professional Facilitator, Jenn is a 21/64 Certified Advisor, Core Guide for Chief, a trained Interim Executive Director, holds a Certificate of Nonprofit Board Consulting from BoardSource, and a certificate in Change Leadership from Cornell University. Jenn lives in New York City with her husband and two boys.
