Have You Met … Sandy Day? - RevJen

Have you met our Human Resources and Learning Platform Manager, Sandy Day? If you have, you know two things: 1. This hardworking girl is ON IT and 2. Family is EVERYTHING to her.

How It Started

Sandy was born and raised in southern California. She is the youngest child born to an extremely tight knit family. Growing up, Sandy lived in Los Angeles, Glendale, and graduated high school in Palmdale, where she played the flute, keyboard, and was a member of the marching band.

After graduation, Sandy’s parents relocated to Keller, Texas, and wanting to stay close to her family, Sandy came with them. Six months later, her older brother and his wife joined them, and added a niece and nephew to their connected brood.

Sandy spent her early years working in retail before transitioning to medical office operations, taking every opportunity to grow and learn. Simultaneously, she attended the University of Phoenix, earning a degree in Human Resource Management. It is illustrative of Sandy’s work ethic that she was able to earn her degree while working full time.

By the time she earned her degree, Sandy had been promoted several times and had a wide swath of operations experience within the Baylor Health system. She had transitioned to Medical Recruitment, which she loved – but the two-and-a-half-hour round trip commute was cutting into her family time, and she knew something had to change.

Enter RevJen.

How It’s Going

While working in the medical office of Cardiovascular Consultants, Sandy had become friends with RevJen Founder Brian Joseph’s wife, Gayla. So when RevJen was looking for a human resources and operations professional, Gayla made the introduction.

Sandy was very familiar with logistics and operations, and although she had never worked in the nonprofit industry, she felt like the job was perfect for her. RevJen agreed, and Sandy came on board.

Sandy considers RevJen a “meant to be” thing, having come along at just the right time. She is using her operations skills, her human resources training, and she is able to spend quality time with her family, who all live in the same neighborhood. It’s a win/win/win.

When Sandy isn’t working behind the scenes to keep RevJen operating efficiently, you will find her – no surprise – with her family. Her husband, son, and two bonus sons are EVERYTHING to her. Day to day, weekends, holidays, Sandy and her family enjoy their proximity to her larger family – who all live in the same neighborhood. They are a unit. And they love it that way!
